Sanoja began his musical career as a self-taught person and later he was a student of Benito Canónico, then he became the pianist in the Los Hermanos Belisario dance orchestra.

As a member of the Leonard Melody Orchestra he put an overview of the work of the dance band line and acquired self-taught skills as an arranger. In the 1940s he worked for Radio Libertador and Radio Tropical, and learned from radio broadcasting pioneer Luis Bello Raymondi.
